Sunday 8th March Is International Women's Day - Let's Fight Violence Against Women And Girls
On this day every year, we celebrate International Women’s Day.
But as Faye from Women's Aid says,
" Whilst we love the sentiment, we wish a day like this wasn't needed. We wish women’s achievements were celebrated every day of the year. We wish we didn't still have to call for their equality and safety.
But domestic abuse remains a national emergency, and our mission has never been more urgent. Thousands of women and children need our help to escape and rebuild their lives.
Women like Amanda. Living with an abuser took so much from her, she told Womene's Aid:
“It tarnishes your whole life, it changes your soul, it makes you question who you are. It took everything except my life.”
A key part of Amanda’s escape and recovery was using our Survivor's Forum, a place for survivors to connect with one another. She said: “The support on the forum gave me the strength to plan my escape. I really didn't think I had the strength to leave but the advice given by fellow survivors encouraged me to believe in a free future for myself. And slowly they helped get me to a place where I feel safe and empowered to live again.”
Yes, I want help women like Amanda
Women's Aid run their Survivors Forum on a shoestring budget, and your donation today means it can be there to help more women like Amanda in the future.
Thank you for your solidarity, compassion and kindness.
